President and Founder of OffDutyChef.com

Marian Knowles is the President and Founder of Off Duty Chef, Inc., an e-Commerce marketplace designed to create at-home fine dining possibilities for busy people and new sales channel for professional Chefs.  Marian is a recent graduate of Founder Institute, a competitive Silicon Valley early idea incubator.  Before becoming an entrepreneur, Marian enjoyed a career as a Fortune 100 pharmaceutical and health care organization executive in brand management.  This included roles in managing brand strategy, budget development, product launches and portfolio performance.

Marian graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree, Magna cum Laude from CUNY – Hunter College and was granted her Masters degree in Public Health from Columbia University.  Marian is passionate about big picture food-related issues including food insecurity and social justice.  Marian is a Board Member and Chair of the individual philanthropy committee for Neighbors Together (neighborstogether.org) a New York City anti-poverty, anti-hunger non-profit organization.

The idea for Off Duty Chef, Inc. came to life from her own pained efforts to stay connected in a meaningful way with friends and family. With a 60-hour workweek, meeting the needs of a young family, with a little self-care thrown in, and a kitchen the size of a New York City closet, she realized she didn’t have what it took to pull off entertaining at home.

Off Duty Chef’s technology platform connects people who want to host parties with professional chefs who can help them create amazing food and personalized experiences. It takes the friction out of finding and hiring the right chef so people can just concentrate on being the perfect hosts. They can follow entire conversations, enjoy an entire glass of wine (maybe even remember where they put it), and experience their own dinner party just like one of the guests

Noha Waibsnaider (MBA, Columbia Business School) is a leading food entrepreneur and change maker in the healthy, real food movement.
