The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, now celebrating its one hundred and eighteenth anniversary (118th), is the oldest continuous business/civic organization in upper Manhattan (originally founded in 1896) as the Harlem Board of Trade.  The Chamber’s primary focus is on improving business/economic development, revitalization, and quality of life issues in the Upper Manhattan area with specific emphasis on the needs of the business, educational, cultural, tourism, civic and sectors professional.

Now the largest summer people attraction event in the Northeast area, HARLEM WEEK which started in 1974 as a one-day celebration is now a yearly 6 week event (in July and August of each year).  It annually attracts over 3 million targeted attendees to its over 100 events and activities.

Greater Harlem Housing Development Corporation (GHHDC)

GHHDC has developed, owns and manages approximately 17 mixed-use properties for residential and commercial purposes in the Central Harlem area.

GHHDC in concert with The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce completed the construction and development of “Strivers Gardens”, a fantastic mixed/used construction project featuring 170 units of one (1) two (2) and Three (3) bedroom condominiums; 42 double-leveled penthouses, an enclosed urban garden, a health club, underground parking for approximately 200 cars and 42,000 square feet of commercial and retail space.

Williams serves as the Vice-Chairman of Harlem Arts Alliance a not-for-profit organization made up of over 800 arts and culture institutions, theaters, art galleries and art professionals from across the New York region.

Williams serves as a member of the Executive Board of NYC & Company, the official regional, national and international marketing and promotional arm for the City of New York.

Teaching & INSTRUCTIONAL Background

Williams has taught various courses on Urban Development, Economics, Tourism, Small Business and Black History, at Cooper Union, Hunter College, The City College of New York, Rutgers University, Pratt Institute, Shaw University, Hostos Community College, University of Michigan, University of Massachusetts, Malcolm-King College, Fordham University, The New School for Social Research, and Central State College to name a few.  In addition, Williams has been featured on numerous local, regional, national and international television and cable programs.  As well, Williams has been the feature subject of numerous daily, weekly and monthly print publications, newspapers and magazines.
