VOZA RIVERS is a leading theater, music, live entertainment, documentary films and events producer who has produced over 1,000 events under his New Heritage/HARLEM WEEK banner.
Rivers is Executive Producer/Founding Member of New Heritage Theatre Group and Harlem’s award winning IMPACT Repertory Theatre; Chairman, Harlem Arts Alliance, a 800 + arts service membership organization; 1st Vice President of The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce; and Vice Chairman of HARLEM WEEK. Rivers’ past positions include: President of New York Entertainment and Sports Advisors; Vice Chairman, Greenlight Films; and Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Apollo Theater Records.
Rivers has produced local and international theatrical events and concerts at the Apollo Theater, Columbia University, American Museum of Natural History, Riverside Theater, City College, Manhattan School of Music, Museum of the City of New York, Schomburg Center For Research In Black Culture, El Museo del Barrio, Studio Museum In Harlem, Cathedral of St. John The Divine, Carnegie Hall, The United Nations, Radio City Music Hall and large outdoor venues throughout Manhattan. International events Rivers produced include projects in: Japan, South Africa, Geneva, Jamaica, W.I. and the United Kingdom.
His credits include: Executive Producer of Harlem Week and Harlem Music Festival; 1998 Grammy nomination for the Broadway musical Sarafina!; Producer of multiple Off-Broadway/Broadway South African plays including: Woza Albert!, Asinamali!, Sarafina! and Township Fever all written by one of South Africa’s most celebrated playwright/director Mbongeni Ngema.
